Welcome to Paper Pirouettes!

For 27 years I have had the rare opportunity to dance. I have learned to know dance. I have seen, appreciated, rehearsed, performed, traveled, felt, dreamed, taught and lived dance. Now it would seem those days are past and the new generation of dancers are interpreting, performing, dancing and living their dreams through exquisite movement. It is a pleasure to watch and witness the ever changing faces of dance!

Pirouette: full turn, spin, twirl. As my dancing and teaching days seem to be at a pause, much like a pirouette I find myself turning to a new phase of my life...writing...hence, Paper Pirouettes! After a life of dancing I figure I can pass on a little wisdom for dancers, parents, studio owners and interested readers. After all dance is everlasting is it not?

Dance has afforded me many things, travel, adventure, creativity, performance opportunities, money, college, children, a living. But I am always brought back to my basic love of dance and my passion to express through creative movement. It is this passion that has kept me dancing for years. It is always this passion that inspires me to pass on dance to my daughters and to my students, all of whom I love to watch dance and grow in their capacity to perform this art. Hopefully, this will be a fun blog to read as I follow my daughter Ashleigh through this performance season, as well as giving helpful hints to dancers and parents alike. So welcome to Paper Pirouettes!

Always,
Ms. Shari
